Een terrarium is een charmante en esthetische manier om planten binnenshuis te kweken en te verzorgen. Hier volgt een basisgids voor het onderhouden van je terrarium, zodat het een levendig en gezond mini-ecosysteem blijft:
- Licht: Zorg ervoor dat je terrarium voldoende licht krijgt, maar vermijd direct zonlicht. De ideale plek is nabij een raam waar veel indirect licht binnenkomt, zoals een raam op het oosten of westen.
- Water: Het water geven van je terrarium hangt af van het type: gesloten of open. Bij een gesloten terrarium is de waterbehoefte minimaal omdat het systeem zelfvoorzienend is. Open terrariums vereisen af en toe water geven, afhankelijk van de droogte van de aarde. Gebruik een sprayfles voor een gelijkmatige verdeling van het water.
- Ventilatie: Voor gesloten terrariums is het belangrijk om af en toe het deksel te openen om frisse lucht binnen te laten. Dit helpt schimmelvorming te voorkomen en zorgt voor een gezonde luchtcirculatie.
- Schoonmaken: Houd de binnenkant van het glas schoon en verwijder eventuele dode planten of bladeren. Dit voorkomt de opbouw van schimmels en ziektes.
- Bodem en planten: Controleer regelmatig of de bodem niet verzadigd is met water, vooral bij gesloten terrariums. Kies planten die geschikt zijn voor de omstandigheden binnen het terrarium, zoals kleine varens, mossen en luchtzuiverende planten.
Door deze richtlijnen te volgen, zal je terrarium een gezonde en aantrekkelijke toevoeging zijn aan je interieur.
